Meet Our Esteemed Judge
This year’s judging panel is led by Simon, who in his own words is “a son of a farmer who has always tinkered and built stuff.”
Simon – “…our neighbour had a plane when l was a kid and l watched it with envy over the fence. I never imagined that one day l would fly, or even own a plane, let alone build one.
I was a private pilot with only a few hundred hours out of Moorabbin when l decided to build my own plane after seeing one at the Avalon air show in 2015. I joined SAAA the same year.
My Sling 4 took to the skies in early 2018. Since then me and my family have flown over 1000 hours in it as far as Cairns, Alice, Hobart and many points in between. My favourite part of the flying scene is the people you meet, and hanging with the old timers who built the SAAA.”
Aircraft Showcase Viewing
Not participating but still want to be part of the excitement? The Aircraft Showcase is open to all attendees who wish to view the competing aircraft. Take this opportunity to see the latest in homebuilt and restored aircraft, talk to the builders, and vote for your favourite in the People’s Choice category.
Stay tuned for more details.
